a) Tell me a place where I can find accurate books on genealogy and the study of ancestry, particularly genetic markers/mutations which help unravel ancestry.

b) If a haplogroup merely tells you which ethnic group one of your billions of ancestors belongs to why is it of any value? Is it not just a lottery which haplogroup you belong to?

If one's DNA only shows genetic markers associated with one ethnic group is it, scientifically speaking, a reasonable assertion to make if you argue they're pure as any adxmiture would have left a genetic marker from another ethnic group?

I'd appreciate any links to studies etc
