Some of our oral traditions say that we are from the east. We traveled here long time ago and fought the people that were first inhabitants of the Great Lake areas. Some of our oral traditions mention white men that were killed off a few hundred years before Columbus, it's pretty interesting, but they are just oral traditions and myths.

Now my cousin said that through DNA testing, that we have a Haplo X gene that is not found in the rest of the Americas, but found to be with the Algonquian people, which includes many tribes in the North and Mid West of the USA.

This Haplo X DNA is only found in Europeans and Israelis, so what does this mean for me and my people? Does this mean we have European and Middle Eastern ancestry?

My cousin also said there is proof, if there is proof can anyone direct me to the correct place?
The oral tradition is Ojibwa.
I have no idea what religion my cousin belongs to.
