Is the 90% DNA argument legitimate?

BK asked: A question was asked for arguments supporting the theory of Evolution. Several reponders wrote that humans and chimpanzees share 90% of their DNA.
Two thought on that:
1) This would assume a common ancestor, which has not been found
… and that would see to invalidate any proof of that statement as supporting the evoultionary relationship [...]
