As a child I remember listing my different nationalities (as we called them) although we were referring to ethnic background. I remember my friends and my parents always saying that all Americans had Amerindian ancestry. I never really thought about it over the years but recently I had an autosomal DNA test which showed me to be 14% Native American. I have told all of my friends about the test and the ones that took it had between 6% and 20% Native American DNA. So now I am thinking, maybe the American Indians didn’t disappear. They were assimilated into the rest of the population.

I’m nordic european and most of us don’t really consider “white” americans to be white since alot of you have mixed blood lines just like blacks in america have mixed blood line from europe.

That biracial family did not look black. They just looked like white people but that just happen to have some black ancestry. All those white people that acted like they was so disgusted because they was mixed with black probably didn’t realize they where likely mixed too.

As for your question. No whiteness is not devalued when it’s mixed with other races. In fact it’s elevated.
I don’t know how many times I’ve seen whites make a big deal over an “Eurasian” child. Some even classify the child as white even though they look Asian.
I don’t know about white/Hispanic because where I live most Hispanics & whites don’t hang together let alone have kids. But I’m sure those that do don’t see white mix with Hispanic and devalue it.
Many whites think “black blood” is some how tainted. And even if it’s mixed with white it doesn’t matter. That’s why the One Drop Rule continues to exist.
“Black blood” = bad has been in breaded in many people for centuries.
It would take and enlightened person to believe otherwise.”

“What white people are really afraid of (and the reason the one drop rule still exist) is not being able to tell if a white person is “mixed” with something else.

My daugther is biethinc (black & white) and you should hear some of the crap that comes out of white folks mouths. Mind you, I am a dark skinned black woman and my daugther basically looks white. The will come up with anything, any explination to assure themselves that she is NOT mine.

The best is not being asked but being told how wonderful of me that i adopted her…LMAO (Let me just say that if I were going to adopt a child i would adopt a child of color…lord knows many of htem need homes, and when was the last time you saw a black person adopt a white child??)

Bottome line is they are afraid becasue they can’t tell that she is black and that messes them up. The thought that their son could bring her home some day or they could be friend her and have no idea that her mother is black (that she is black)freaks the hell out of them!!”

These are stories from black women duh they’re not mine. and “huntress” i find it highly unlikely that most white americans have native ancestry since your people shot half the native americans like dogs and wouldn’t come near them! genocide at it’s worst! I always find it amusing if not some what pathetic when a white american claim native american ancestry. Get real, the white man back then wouldn’t come near a native american, it’s the worst history of all and i find it insulting to the native americans everytime a “white” (and i use that term loosly) american claim to have native heritage. No wonder the native trives like cherokees now make you PROVE that you have native american blood lines, many white americans have tried by DNA test and failed! because they thought and was so sure of that they had native in them, instead they found out something else, something that scared them, they instead found out that they had black ancestry! and we know how you “white” american are scared
